The Napa Valley Film Festival’s inaugural screenwriting competition is looking for exceptional screenwriters for the 2017 Artists-in-Residence Program. NVFF is known for exhibiting the year’s best new independent films and likely Oscar and Golden Globe awards contenders, while simultaneously leveraging Napa Valley’s outstanding food, wine and hospitality to deliver an unparalleled immersive and transformative festival experience.

Joining the mentor team for the competition is Jim Rash, Oscar-winning screenwriter of The Descendants, starring George Clooney and directed by Alexander Payne, and the writer and co-director of The Way Way Back, starring Steve Carrell. The second industry mentor will be announced in mid-July.

The public panel will be open to all NVFF passholders.

The 20 finalists will each be offered one Festival Pass to attend NVFF17!

The Grand Prize winners will be offered 2 coveted invitations to the renowned NVFF Artists-in-Residence (AIR) Program, hosted by Meadowood Napa Valley. AIR participants include the narrative feature and documentary feature directors who are selected for NVFF Competition. The directors and the 2 screenplay competition grand prize winners will be treated to 6 nights at the resort, and attend 2 days of seminars, panels and networking sessions with film industry veterans.
