Alliance of Women Filmmakers (AWF) was established 14 years ago with a goal to provide a platform and resources for filmmakers creating unique and powerful roles for women. The organization has developed the Los Angeles Women's International Film Festival (www.lawomensfest.com) which has showcased hundreds of films made by women around the world. AWFs' scriptwriting competition (May 1st - June 30th) serves as a resource for writers creating unique and powerful roles for women. This script competition was established to further the mission of Alliance of Women Filmmakers to help advance the careers of writers and filmmakers creating diverse and powerful screen images of women from all ethnicities. Alliance of Women Filmmakers is a community partner of Women of Warner. Five Script Finalist will be invited to attend one of AWF and WOW's partnered events on the WB lot this Fall. Past events include "Women Who Run the Show" which featured women content creators behind hit WBTV and DC shows Arrow, Blindspot and Riverdale. Awards & Prizes Festival Competition: Best of Fest - Prize packages are usually valued at $5000.00. Past prizes have been sponsored by: Burke Williams, Baseline Studio System, Avid Adobe, Final Draft, Script Magazine, Hollywood Reporter and Animation Magazine. Script Competition: Five Script Finalist will be invited to attend one of AWF and WOW's partnered events on the WB lot. Past events include; "Women Who Run the Show" which featured women content creators behind hit WBTV and DC shows Arrow, Blindspot and Riverdale. Rules & Terms Short films up to 25 minute-long. Films written and directed by men will be considered if they have strong leading women characters. All other films must be directed and written by women. Male producing partners okay. All films in a language other than English must be subtitled in English for festival presentation. Filmmakers must deliver final format for festival presentation by March 1st. Participants agree that their film or clips from it and all other material related to their project may be used and/or published in the festival event program, festival website and for any promotional purposes which the festival deems appropriate. Exhibition copies of films will be returned to filmmakers. Screeners will not be returned. We request film stills at the time of submission. Please send 3-5 film images. We do not need production stills of filmmakers and crew.
