Make a short film about a leading woman in technology

B~STEM Project (bstemproject.org) is launching the “Hall of Fame Films” competition. During Women’s History Month, we’re championing the inclusion of women in media by calling all female content creators to make a short film highlighting a leading woman in technology and innovation across industries.


 

There is no fee to enter and submissions are open from February 13th through February 24th. Students/alumni must meet the following requirements and can register by going to www.bstemproject.org:

  • A female writer, director, or producer

  • 14 years of age or older

  • Produce short content 5 minutes or less


 

The content should highlight a trailblazing woman in the industries provided by B~STEM Project. She must have a clear and significant impact on technology and innovation. Content can be in any style or genre i.e. documentary, docu-reality, animation, music video and the like. We encourage creative storytelling. Video must run no longer than 5 minutes length.

 

Winners will receive prizes that includes pitching their ideas to leading industry executives at top companies. Last year’s winners garnered an opportunity to pitch to companies such as: BET Networks, NBCUniversal, Make It Happen Productions, TBS & TNT, Maker Studios, ESPN Films, TV One, HGTV, DIY & GAC and PBS.

 

PHASE 1

  • Submit a document (i.e. PowerPoint format) that highlights team members with brief bio. Please include email and phone numbers for Writer, Director and Producer.
  • Include a link to a video no longer than 1 minute, introducing yourself. All videos must also answer the following question – “Why are female content creators and stories about leading women in technology important now and in the future?” Please mark video as UNLISTED.
  • Submission must be received via email no later than 11:59 pm on February 24th.

PHASE 2

  • On March 1st you will receive your assigned industry via the e-mail provided in your application. Teams will have from March 1st through March 15th to find their heroine, shoot, edit, and upload their film to YouTube.
  • Links to content must be submitted no later than 11:59 pm on March 15th. Please mark videos as UNLISTED. No submissions entered into the competitions can be shared before April 24th.

 

The competition will culminate with a red carpet screening of the finalists hosted by Creative Artist Agency on March 31st in Los Angeles, California. Watch the VIDEO of last year's event hosted by YouTube Space LA. Check out more info HERE.
