In celebration of Canada 150, Vancouver Asian Film Festival (VAFF) is launching the Canada 150 / China Scriptwriting Competition in partnership with China’s CNH Management Ltd., to better reflect Canada’s diversity across the country’s feature filmmaking landscape. The winner will receive a cash prize of CAD$10,000 after signing a contract assigning CNH the right to own and develop the winning script, for production and distribution.
Vancouver Asian Film Festival is launching the inaugural Canada 150 / China Scriptwriting Competition. This new initiative will demonstrate the diversity of Canada’s feature filmmaking landscape, and provide culturally relevant, entertaining stories with appeal for both Canadians and the immense Chinese viewing public. The winner of the competition will receive a $10,000 grand prize.
This competition is opened to all residents of U.S. and Canada with an Asian American/Canadian story to tell.

The Vancouver Asian Film Festival Society (VAFF) is a not-for-profit organization that celebrates diversity in film. The longest-running Canadian film festival of its kind, debuted in September 1997. VAFF is entirely organized and produced by a group of dedicated volunteers, and is made possible by generous financial support from corporate sponsors, public funders and private donors.
