Counseling Services at NYFA provide short-term, solution-focused counseling to eligible students. Students whose needs fall outside of the scope of practice will be referred to community resources so that their needs can be appropriately met. These referrals can be made at the initial intake/consultation as well as when a student is engaged in therapy on campus and the need is assessed through work with a campus therapist. Some examples of clinical issues that will likely be addressed with a referral to community resources include but are not limited to:
