Important NYFA Online Learning Update

March 18, 2020

Dear NYFA Students, Faculty and Staff,

We would like to commend the entire NYFA community for its tremendous cooperation and generosity of spirit during this difficult time. Everyone came together to make a quick and very successful transition to online learning. We understand, as this continues, that there may be more challenges to overcome. We are very pleased that faculty and students have discovered innovative ways to continue both creative work and learning in the remote environment. Nonetheless, we anticipate that some final projects and thesis work will need to be completed by alternative means or on campus when this period of remote learning ends. We will work with students and do all that is necessary to make sure they complete their studies.

As we are sure most of you have come to assume, given how the situation is continuing to evolve, we are now extending the period of online learning through April 12th. It is very possible that we will have to extend online learning beyond that date and will continue to communicate changes. We hope to open our campuses as soon as possible but will not do so until we are absolutely sure it is safe.

Students who wish to return home to their own country or state and continue remote learning there, should feel free to do so. Should we return to campus at any time before the end of the term, we will continue to stream classes for any students who cannot immediately return to school. For international students who do wish to return to home, please consult with the International Student Office to review details regarding your travel home and subsequent return to NYFA.

Again, we want to thank everyone for their continued cooperation, and we remain available for questions or concerns. Please adhere to all health and safety guidelines and stay safe.

Sincerely,

Michael Young, President

Dan Mackler, Senior Vice President, Campus Dean, Los Angeles
Elli Ventouras-Onaldin, Campus Dean, New York City
