Excerpt from the script:
The door swings open before she finishes her sentence. Kaya’s MOM, Sasha, walks through the door and over to her bed, and without a word, snatches the blankets off of her. Kaya looks at her in shock.
KAYA
Why would you do that?
MOM
Watch your mouth. What time is it?
Kaya turns over her pillows and grabs her phone to see the time: 8:30. Kaya looks back at her mom.
KAYA
I’m getting up.
MOM
Then get up.
KAYA
I am.
MOM
Kaya, you have one more time to talk to me like that before you find your own way to school. Would you rather take the bus?
Kaya makes a show of stretching and jumping out of bed. Once up, she stares coldly at her mother.
