Project Description

CREW CALL:

Production: Papers and Dragons

Director: Joaquin Trapero

Shoot Dates: Aug 29 - Sept 1

Hello! My name is Joaquin Trapero. I'm a MFA screenwriting student, currently working on my webseries pilot. I'm looking for a DP, grip and electricians. I also need people to help puppeteering the characters (paper puppets). There won't be any actors but voice actors, which will be recorded before production. It'll be filmed in the Riverside building. I hope that the information below answers all your questions about the project.

Logline: In a world made of paper, a group of ludicrous adventurers embark on quests, destined to doom whatever town they come across.

The web series would be a take on a D&D (Dungeons and Dragons) campaign, filmed live action with stick puppets like the ones you’d see in preschool. The background is made of cardboard, crudely painted.

STORYLINE:

The story centers around four characters: Creed, a narcissist half-orc knight; Anthony, a self-centred human wizard; Tim, an easily offended druid gnome; and Holly, the edgiest Tiefling rogue. Every episode, they move to a new town. Whether they want or even need help, the four adventurers will try to win their admiration, whether they need to solve their problems or make one, so the villagers pay them attention. Because they never agree on anything, they often almost kill themselves, but most certainly, they kill their reputation. The Voice of Reason, aka the dungeon master, narrates the story and provides insights to the players, only for the players to ignore the voice and reason the world themselves.
