"Recurring Dread" is a black and white silent short film, crafted to be shot in one continuous take. This narrative delves into the intricacies of human relationships and the psychological effects of past traumas. Set in a dimly lit apartment, the story unfolds around Elaine and Paul, two characters ensnared in an intense confrontation, culminating in an unexpected, harrowing twist. Emphasis on non-verbal communication and expression makes this project a rich canvas for actors to explore deep emotional territories. Given the single-take nature, rehearsals will be integral to ensure a smooth execution.
Roles Available:
Elaine:
Age: Early 30s (Flexible with age considerations)
Characteristics: Nervous, contemplative, with a strong aversion to confrontation. The role requires an actor who can convey a wide range of emotions predominantly through facial expressions and body language.
Paul:
Age: Mid 30s (Flexible with age considerations)
Characteristics: Direct, protective, yet somewhat oblivious to Elaine's emotional turmoil. The actor should be capable of displaying frustration, confusion, and moments of genuine concern.
Project Details:
Duration: The film is expected to run for approximately 3 minutes.
Location: Indoor setting - apartment.
Rehearsals: Due to the single-take nature, actors should be prepared for several rehearsal sessions prior to the actual shoot.
Compensation: This is a student project, so roles are non-paid. However, refreshments will be provided, and it's an excellent opportunity for portfolio building and networking.
Transportation: We will provide transportation assistance, ensuring actors are picked up and brought to the shooting location.
