Club Resources

While Student Life is happy to share virtual resources to support you with your club involvement, the greatest resource is your connection with Student Life and the NYFA community. Contact the Director of Student Life at studentlife.la@nyfa.edu or call 818-333-3558 to set up a time to chat! 

Create a New Club

NYFA encourages all students to create student clubs that enhances and compliments NYFA’s mission and goals, campus community, and does not duplicate the efforts of a currently recognized student club. Below you will find a step-by-step guideline that will assist you to establish your own student club.

The following criteria must be met in order to initiate the process of starting a new student club at NYFA:

  1. At least three officers who are currently enrolled New York Film Academy - Los Angeles students in good standing must be identified. In order to be in good standing, one must:
    1. Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress, which is a 2.0 GPA minimum for undergraduate students and 3.0 GPA minimum for graduate students, and pass 66% or more of their attempted credits.
    2. Not be placed on academic or behavioral probation or suspension.
    3. Be free from financial obligations to New York Film Academy - Los Angeles.
  2. At least one officer must attend Officer Training sponsored by Student Life.
  3. Identify one full-time faculty or staff member to serve as an advisor.
  4. Create and submit an approved constitution with the required language set forth by Student Life. (See a sample club constitution )
  5. Submit the online registration application with the above information.

Student Club Handbook

The New York Film Academy is proud to support each of these clubs and our office is eager to assist student leaders as they strive to build a stronger community. The “Student Club Handbook” is the first step in fulfilling this role. This handbook provides student leaders with tools and resources to navigate through the organizational structure of the New York Film Academy. The handbook is currently being updated, so please connect with the Director of Student Life at studentlife.la@nyfa.edu for the latest information.

Renew a Club

All clubs must register in order to maintain the privileges of being a registered student organization.

  1. Submit the names of at least three officers who are currently enrolled New York Film Academy - Los Angeles students in good standing must be identified. In order to be in good standing, one must:
    1. Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress, which is a 2.0 GPA minimum for undergraduate students and 3.0 GPA minimum for graduate students, and pass 66% or more of their attempted credits.
    2. Not be placed on academic or behavioral probation or suspension.
    3. Be free from financial obligations to New York Film Academy - Los Angeles.
  2. Have at least one officer complete Officer Training sponsored by Student Life.
  3. Submit the name of one full-time faculty or staff member that is serving as the advisor.
  4. Submit an updated copy of the RSO’s constitution.
  5. Submit the online registration application with the above information.

Request An Event

Any registered student organization wishing to host an event is required to complete and submit this request form 4-8 or more weeks prior to your desired event date. Necessary time frame will vary per the nature of the event, and we encourage you to speak with Director of Student Life at studentlife.la@nyfa.edu in your early brainstorming phases for your event prior to submitting this request.

Once this form is submitted, please contact the Director of Student Life to schedule to meet and discuss your event proposal.

Before submitting your event request, please take the time to thoroughly outline the vision for your event. On this request form you will be asked to indicate the purpose of the event, food options, number of guests, desired locations, desired dates and times, technical needs, and more. The more details you can provide now, the smoother this process will be.

Request Room

A privilege of registering as a club/student organization on campus is the ability to reserve rooms at the New York Film Academy for club meetings or other business. Please submit this form to make a request for reserving a room.

Request Printing

Registered student organizations have the privilege of requesting printing for club meetings, business, events, and marketing. Please complete this printing request form and contact studentlife.la@nyfa.edu for any questions.
