In compliance with this objective and in accordance with United States Department of Education Drug Free Schools and Communities Act Amendment of 1989, Public Law 101-226, this document, distributed annually, informs students, faculty and staff of:
NYFA’s institutional policies and standards of conduct related to alcohol and drugs
The disciplinary sanctions under NYFA conduct policies for violations of standards of conduct related to use of alcohol and drugs
Legal sanctions and penalties related to the alcohol and drugs based on federal, state and local laws
The health risks associated with alcohol and drug use
Resources for help and treatment for the treatment of substance abuse and addiction

Student behaviors that are in alleged violation of the NYFA Drug and Alcohol Policy for Students will be reviewed and investigated in accordance with the NYFA Student Code of Conduct.
NYFA values, first and foremost, the health and safety of its students. Students in medical crisis and students directly responsible for securing medical assistance to address a students’ medical crisis resulting from alcohol and/or drug abuse or misuse may be granted medical amnesty.
